First stop on the tour is this well-known restaurant, Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar located in Austin, Tx. Though there are multiple locations, I chose the South Austin location as it was closest and I was ready to grub!!
Let’s get started on the ambiance of the restaurant. When I first walked in, the smell of the boil seasoning hit me in smack dead in the face. My insides immediately started to dance. Also, the place was very, very packed. I wasn’t bothered by it at all because for me, it was another good sign that the crawfish just might be popping in there. But to add sprinkles on top of my uprising of joy, there was absolutely no wait time at all. The space is big enough to hold lots of hungry bellies and also has an outdoor patio to accommodate those that like to eat with a bit of fresh air. There was great music playing and even a balloon artist for the kiddos. On my scale, the location was a 5/5.
Next up, is the customer service. Upon entering, I was greeted with a big smile and warm welcome from the hostess. Once at my table, it took no time for my waitress to arrive at the table. As expected, she immediately took my drink order and delivered it. She then helped me choose an appetizer, which I ended up trying raw oysters for the first time, so extra thumbs up for her. Another plus was that she gave me a good amount of time to decide my entrée (even though I already knew). After receiving my mud bugs, she refilled my water as needed and even brought me extra potatoes because the initial ones were hard. 5/5
Lastly, THE CRAWFISH!! The sauce was very different, I’d say. Of course, I ordered spicy because what’s the point of anything less? Lol. But they also had a kind of sweetness to them that made me pause a bit. They were boiled perfectly and the head was juicy to where it ran down my arms. Just how I like them!! The crawfish were a bit small in my opinion to be fresh at $9.95/lb but hey, this is Austin we’re talking about here. So overall, Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar earned a 3.75 rating on my well experienced crawfish scale.
